Central Nevada Historical Society

The association was founded Central Nevada Museum in 1981.  Many archives are accessible in their Research Library. This library is run by the organisation alongside Nye County.

These archives include:

These resources are mostly connected to Nye and Esmeralda Counties and the surrounding area.

Nevada State Genealogical Society

The aims of the society are to promote and encourage the study of genealogy, and to teach people about the importance of preserving documents and photographs.

Society members share information regarding researching family history in Nevada, the United States and worldwide.

The organisation does not yet have a Library, but there are links on their site to many other sites you may find of interest, especially if you have ancestors who come from the State.

Information regarding surnames currently being researched by Members is also available.

Nevada Historical Society

Many resources are available in their Research Library, which include High School Yearbooks, Maps and Photographs. 

The association also holds manuscripts, which include the papers relating to:

  • George Wingfield
  • Knights of Pythias
  • Manhattan Silver Mining Co.
  • Truckee-Carson Irrigation District
  • US Senator Patrick A McCarran.
  • US Senator William M Stewart
  • Virginia & Gold Hill Water Co.
  • Women’s Christian Temperance Union

A collection of Newspapers on Microfilm is also held by the organisation and an on-line catalogue of library holdings is accessible.

Staff can undertake photocopying of most documents, but large orders must be undertaken by private researchers. They will not take photocopies of any documents that may be damaged by the process.

North-eastern Nevada Genealogical Society

The society publishes a newsletter entitled Chart and Quill and Tables of Contents for this publication from 1979-2000 are available on the site.  A list of surnames mentioned in Newsletters from 1979-1999 is accessible.  Links to other sites you may find of interest are also available.

County Society

Clark County Genealogical Society

Many Genealogical resources are available in the Heritage Room of the Paseo Verde Library, which include Periodicals relating to various US States and Family Files.  Some resources also relate to England and Wales. 

They also have a list of dates that State Vital Records were required in most States, and a list of addresses for County Recorders in various Counties.

The association is in the process of indexing Obituaries found in old Newspapers from 1936. Details of Newspapers published in various Counties is on the site.
