Alberta Family History Societies (E-K)

This section lists the state-wide associations from Edmonton to Grande Prairie and District giving details about each one and what resources and publications they offer.

Edmonton Genealogical Society

The society was established in 1974.  Its members' aims are to preserve, research and publish their own family histories and those of the province's families.

Many archives are available in their Library, which incorporate:

Fort McMurray Genealogical Society

The association was established in 1984 as Fort McMurray Genealogical Study Group, becoming a branch of Alberta Genealogical Society in 1987.  Many resources can be accessed in their Library, which include:

Grande Prairie and District Genealogical Society

A list of Cemeteries is available on the site, along with Gravestone Inscriptions and Photographs.  Back Issues of their Newsletter are also available in PDF Format.

Some Obituary Indexes are available on the site, which incorporate Obituaries from the Grande Prairie Daily Herald Tribune 1965-2012 and the Peace Area 1992-2012.  For a fee, they are willing to send a copy of the appropriate Obituary.  The town of Grande Prairie Assessment and Tax Records covering 1920 and 1921 are also available.
