Calhoun County Genealogy Society

The aim of the society is to preserve the history and genealogy of Calhoun County.  They also hope to provide more genealogical research materials for Calhoun Co. Public Library, situated in Port Lavaca.

The association has a Newspaper Database which includes an Alphabetical List of people mentioned. This index is compiled from obituaries, engagement announcements, marriage announcements, birth announcements and courthouse records.

Chaparral Genealogical Society

Labour of Love Genealogical Society was established on 4 May 1972 by seven women who felt a genealogical society was required.  It became known as Chaparral Genealogical Society in September 1974.  Their aim is to promote and encourage interest in genealogy and family history.
