Kentucky Genealogical Society   

The society was organised in 1973. Their aim is to encourage and promote the study of genealogy.

They have donated their extensive collection of resources to Kentucky Family History Centre. 

Numerous on-line indexes are accessible on their site, which include Cemetery Records, Marriages, Newspaper Clippings and Obituaries relating to various Counties in Kentucky. Back issues of their newsletter, Bluegrass Roots, are sold by the society.

A list of surnames currently being researched by members is available on the site, along with a Message Board.  A mailing list is also available.

The Society is unable to provide research services to the public, but does provide a list of family history researchers, who, for a fee, are willing to undertake research on your behalf.

Ballard-Carlisle County Historical and Genealogical Society

The aim of the association is to preserve the primary and secondary records of Ballard and Carlisle Counties.

The association has Death Certificates from 1911-1960 and, for a fee, is prepared to look up the certificate and send it out to you.

The association was established in 1985, its aim being to preserve, share and evaluate local records.  Anyone with an interest in genealogy or Louisville history is welcome to join the society.  

They publish Lines and By-Lines, their quarterly journal, and a searchable index of articles from that publication covering 1986-1994 is accessible on their site.

Martin County Historical and Genealogical Society

Some Obituaries that members have taken from local newspapers are accessible. They sell Martin County, Kentucky – A Pictorial History which is 408 pages of Martin Co. pictures.  This book contains a surname index.

The association was established in 1980.  Its aims are to encourage people to preserve their heritage and to give them a better understanding of family history, the history of Kentucky, and American history.
